When you print white ink do you always have to print the white layer first and then realign the paper and send the cmyk job??

with what machine? jv3 160sp can do before color pass simulataneously, after color pass simultaneously, or only (allowing for a later registered pass).

also, if you print the white alone. you can send the second pass as rgb.

Sorry it is for a Roland xc-540mt.

So I can either print a white layer and then realign the paper and print my cmyk layer or print it all at one time?

my two cents... i prefer if the image registration isn't crucial to just print the white. let it fully dry and then print the color. some colors can be affected by the amount of solvent and condense a bit..take on a bit of a milky tinge because the white would have rather dried longer. that said, you can also take advantage of the lack o drying time and get versions of opacity you wouldn't usually get out of a printer.

if you are just starting out. definitely just print the white first and let it dry for a while. you might see that your white values should have been this or that and want to adjust the luminosity of your color layer.
