Problem with uni-directional printing on a JV3-160SP

I'm having an issue with my cyan head at the moment, no ink printing out of the left side, so i switched to uni-directional printing until i find a solution. When you print uni-directional is it only using one side of the head or is it still printing out both side but just in one direction instead of two? I was told that printing uni-directional will only let the printer print from one side of the head, but after printing a few jobs im questioning that because my color is coming out wrong.

No it prints from both sides of the head in any mode.
The issue with wrong colours is that it lays down ink on passing over and back in bi-directional.
Always better uni-directional as the resolution of the print will be better.
Also lays down more ink.
