Radio folks are crazy.

Guy calls and goes into his spiel and rips off a 30 second ad. First off he has the business name wrong. Stopped using it 6 years ago. He claims to have gotten my name from one of their listeners in an e-mail. Uh-huh. Prime drive time he promises. 3 Days a week. Half a month...$639. A bargain he says. Over $100 a day is no bargain. No Thanks. Click. What kind of fantasy land do these people live in?

I got the same thing, but from a yellow pages rep. (the 'yellow' book)

Told me something like a 1/2 page ad, for the price of a 1/4 column ad. So I told him I waz busy at the moment, and could he call back in an hour......"sure".
So in this hour, I called 6 of my business owner buddies. I told them to pick up their phone book. After they all said "HUH??"...I said just do it...and tell me what's on the cover of it. NOT 1 person had picked up the 'yellow' book. Case closed...survey filled.

Guess who called back an hour later...expecting the big commission???

WHich brings me to another quick point...Phone book ads only bring in price shoppers, and are NOT a good sales tool. Wrap your OWN rig...now that works!!!

Radio is broadcast. Most shops need narrowcast. (specific to business owners).

So you're paying for a lot of shotgun pellets that will never hit the target.
