Rain, Ice, Snow sandwiched by summer weather

Go figure, In Sunny SoCal (most of the time) we have had Rain, Snow, Hail, Sleet, Sunshine and Incerating Heat, all in just a few months. This happens every few years here but it is treated as something nobody has ever seen.

Looking back on some history it was somewhat common to have snow in Los Angeles. Not the outskirts, but downtown. I have found a lot if nice pics from the 40's and 50's on this. I really like seeing changes in weather like this but it was super cold (for here) last night, low 30's here but it was single digits not too far away. We often get nice days and cold nights during the winter.

Are you a 4 seasons person? I don't care for extreme cold or hot more than a few days. I like spring and fall around here. The others are ok but not more than a few weeks. I do like rain, especially at night. It is like listening to sizzling steaks on the grill. Makes me hungry.

Where we live (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) we have 4 drastically different seasons. We go from -50c to +40c and currently have the most snow on the ground since 1956 I believe. I always thought having 4 seasons was fun but I do fantasize of places that never see snow. It's been a painful winter and we're all counting down the days until spring is here so we can start the 2 month long process of all this damn snow melting.

Spring is nice once the messy part is done and things start to get green again. Summer is usually crazy hot for June/July then starts to taper off in August and starts getting wetter and colder. Fall (once you get over the leaves changing) quickly blends into winter and the whole thing starts over again.

I like the change of seasons and climate but it's been quite temperamental lately, regardless on my/your stance on climate change.

I just hope we have an early spring and not too much flooding - they're already talking about that around these parts.

Tomorrow is supposed to be -5c so it's like a celebration around here....time to get out and finally do some outdoor things!

Yes! I am a 4 season person. I love Spring because it signals summer is coming and I love to get my garden started and watch my tiny seeds start, listen to the rain and thunder of springs storms. Summer is fun time for us, weekends spent at the family cottage, bonfires, sitting outside watching the stars, family picnics, going to Lake Michigan listening to the waves crash with the warm sand on my feet. Fall smells so good up here, the tic tac of the leaves blowing all around, Halloween and haunted houses. Winter a time to relax a bit, watching the first snow fall, going snowmobiling, talking a walk with huge gentle flakes falling.

Hit the nail on the head for Wisconsinites. All these are the same reasons why I love WI; even with winter, spring, then 2nd winter, back to fall, then 3rd winter, then faux spring, then 4th winter, and then construction season.

We have not had a long winter but it was intense. We got 75% of our annual precipitation in just 2 weeks back in January. The last week or so added to that.
Looks like winter is now gone. By Sunday we will be into a spring condition and from March on we are normally pretty mild. It has been kind of weird. We had no rain at all until January, then it rained quite a bit and we were in the 90's for part of February and just like that it went from 90 one day to 50 the next with rain and a lot of wind. We did have a very large wind event a few weeks ago with 85mph sustained winds and gusts over 100mph which did a lot of damage.

I think the weather channel has a forum... Check it out. Maybe you'll discover someplace else to relocate to. You really seem to hate your life. Where you are.

Californian's have more issues with the weather than any other place in this country. Is it just me or are they constantly complaining about getting too little rain, too much rain, too hot, too cold? Relative to the rest of the country you're weather is great... take your little variations and enjoy the other 95% of the time in perfect weather. Move to Key West if you want the same temperature all year long.

Climate irregularities are becoming all too normal in my neck of woods. As well as booming population... So please, don't consider relocating here.
edit... Tex you can. But no one else.

In Washington, the summers are hot and muggy, the winters are short and cold, and it is wet and partly cloudy year round.
Glad I was not invited.

you just described Western Washington. I don't want to start a war with Rex and Fred, but Eastern Washington has low humidity, and 4 seasons.
And, Johnny, your always invited!

I want to find some place that is 60-65 year round.

Really our winters aren't too bad. We get a few inches of snow, but then it's followed by 50° weather so it melts off before the next snow. And we only have about 5 months of really hot summer temps that are dry, not humid.
