Rasterlink Rip Time

Hey Guys.

I have a scratch the head scenario.

Rasterlink me us is fine does what it says on the tin. Thing is, I dont get why two separate files of similar content, similar file size and same profile take totally different times to rip?? These two latest examples are for the same job, just a slight variation.

Completely baffled by this. I have a job running now that one file took 20 mins to rip, the next is gonna take 2 hrs (this is unusual in its self)

Any guidance would be greatly received.

Happy Holidays.

Call your dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always, Always, Always ask the selling dealer FIRST before request help anywhere else. The dealers are SUPPOSED to provide this information as part of their responsibility after charging us the end user exorbitant prices for these programs.

That being said, you need to give us a little more information about your computer set up.

MY BEST GUESS would be on the computer end of your situation. How much Ram memory do you have in the computer? How fast are the mother board chips? When was the last time you cleaned up the computer its' self? i.e. a general cache clean up along with a general computer restructure to get all files put together so that the programs and files play well together? Lastly, I might recommend you RE LOAD the Rasterlink® software so that it can run cleanly. Hope that helps.:thumb:

Well yes ordinarily that may be the case to call the vendor, but it was a small company that is no longer around. Plus it was years ago.

I did call the Mimaki dealer direct though not much sense outta them. I thought best to ask the real users, you guys.

Thanks for the advice, I think I have found out the problem. The artwork is direct from my client and had a mixture of CMYK and RGB elements. I converted the file to all CMYK and it worked, still a big file but ripped in 10 odd minutes.

I could prob do with another upgrade PC, and more hard disk space. Maybe in the new year.

Happy Christmas

A BIG thanks

Those of us who take the time to read and post suggestions to ANY QUESTION on this blog are always appreciative when the original poster returns with results OR additional pertinent responses.

It not only is a curtious way of letting us know our investment in helping on this community is valued, but the readers who may have a similar problem in the future can gain great help as we all work towards understanding the problems we often encounter in our everyday lives. I hope your situation improves soon. The RGB/CYMK issue with customer files [ and sometimes files we create ourselves] is one that many times we forget to check the file format and thereby end up where you found yourself. Your explanation is very informative, and therefore worthy of a THANK YOU! for replying.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
