I had a customer come in and bring something to be engraved. I never spoke to him, someone else took the order, wrote it all down. I took their notes, engraved the item, he was called and told it was ready. Had the invoice waiting for him, he walked in, handed the person cash, took his item, said "Perfect" and our guy said "Do you want a copy of the invoice" and he said "For what?", and we said "For your records" and he said "I didn't think you were going to charge me for doing this job".

Huh? You handed us $20 cash before we even gave you the bill (which was actually for $20), yet you didn't think we were charging you for it? Why would you think that anyone would do your work for you for free? Bizarre. He walked out on that note and said "I'll be back, I have more stuff to do".

Ummmm......okay?????

Shopping around for 30 stickers? REALLY?

I had a guy come in shopping around for door magnets, He started off, "I'm trying to get about 5 estimates, and then choose the best priced one for a set of magnets"

I reply, "Our minimum is 5 sets"

I turn down most of that stuff, because it typically never meets our minimum. Also our minimum decal limit is 250 for stuff that size.

I'm gonna start changing my policy I think. Typically the minimum charge for this stuff has been $25. But you know... by the time I reply to the e-mail asking for more information, fire off a quick quote (usually off the top of my head for small stuff like this), mess around with the "file" they send me, etc... you know what? IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!! They've just pi$$ed away too much of my time for 30 frigging decals!

I like your idea Colorado; of a minimum order of 250 for the small stuff. Think I'll start implementing that for these "out of the blue" customers. I don't mind so much for my larger clients, but then again, they don't mind so much when I charge them appropriately too!

Hey.. we get those ALL the time. I think a 250 limit should be mandatory myself.. but I dont call the shots round here. I just do everything else

We don't make a limit on the number, but on the price. Shop minimum.

Oh, you want 30 of them ?? That'll be $125.00 + tax.

However......​

ya know, I can make about 175 of them for $125 + tax, too.
