Regarding Signs101 forum, one thing I've noticed is.....

I spend a whole lot less time on here than I used to. That is, when conversations and topics often were about recent news events, political commentary, religious commentary, etc. Debates often happened, with some of them turning into heated affairs with occasional ad hominem attacks on the posters with contrary opinions. Sometimes I kind of miss the drama, but I get a lot more work done. And that's probably a good thing.

Sorry, partly my fault. With summer I am outside more at night...so not as many drunken 101 posts. Winter is on it's way is all I can say....

three, I agree with ya 110%. I find myself on here less and less, too, but not for the same reasons.

Color, I find quite the opposite...... while it is boring, I don't see more seriousness at all about the sign industry as just less stoopidness taking place. It's like a ghost town sometimes.

Hope I wasn't misunderstood. (failure to communicate) I fully understand the function of Signs101 and your mission Fred. It's a business connection for info hungry tradesmen/business owners. A place to share. I simply meant that at times we all need a diversion from the day-to-day grind. And the previous forum used to sort of provide that. But it's not supposed to, I get that. Just making a random, maybe silly comment. (not trying to stir the pot and cause you problems)

No, I think you misunderstand. My intention with the video was to lighten up the thread by injecting some humor. While the primary mission of Signs 101 is to help sign making professionals make better signs and be more profitable, fun has always been an important ingredient. Fun takes many forms and, to be sure, sometimes gets overly dramatic and even mean spirited. My style is to administer with as light a hand as possible. Hence some mean spirited posts get through and are left to stand on their own.

I have noticed the reduced drama also and think it dates back to our upgrade of the forum software a few months ago. Not sure why but that is when I started seeing it. I also figure that with the summer, more members are busier than they were. In addition, our demographics are becoming much more international than they have been in the past where language differences may be contributing to a more serious environment. Finally, social media is taking a toll and many formerly active members are spending more time on Facebook than at Signs 101.

Aw, you are all a bunch of grumpy old men... Hey wait, I resemble that remark!

Hey I wear that badge with pride.

Re Facebook. Yeah I noticed on other forums some members split off to spend more time there but I think Facebook is fine for chitchat and silly pics but no good for finding anything useful.
Ever noticed that ex members come back whenever they need help with anything to help their business?

The new forum software threw a lot of people too I think.
Grumpy. old. men/women. don't. like. change.

why do you think Fred has taken over Adtechia's account, to spice it back up! :toasting:

He didn't take me over. I am still the same grumpy, nonsense posting, father of 3 I have always been. I just don't get to come around as much with Hiking season being just around the corner again. Can't wait to get back into the woods and away from the world for a bit again.

I might even plan a trip up Gino's way. I hear the woods out in his neck of the Country are pretty damn nice as long as you aint a chipmunk.

Same here, but getting on 101 is like taking a cigarette break. You stop what you are doing for 10 minutes to go on here. It is a better for your physical health, cannot speak for the metal part though.
Have noticed a lot of newcomers from all over as mentioned and of course the name the font is highly used. As far as giving advice or opinions on anything, you can almost tell what certain people will respond with.
And as far as it being boring on here, just throw a 3' Indigo into the middle of them while they are sitting on their heels chatting it up.

First of all..... you're not grumpy. Lotsa other things, but not grumpy. Why a father of 3 and no mention of being a husband ??

Don't bother planning a trip up this way. With all the rain we've had... the poison ivy and oak are everywhere. You have to cut a path through with a machete and even then, ya still can't get it all. Anyway, if I saw you down on all fours, lookin' like a chipmunk, I'd blast your butt away with my .38 or call the girls next door. They like that kinda crap. Besides I wouldn't be wasting all that water.

if you miss the verbal fist fights just look at any given "what do you think of my new logo" post or any newbie post that wants help making "stickers". I've not hung out here as much as I used to as the place has gotten just plain mean
