removable vinyl

I have a small order requesting removable vinyl. I have lots of wall vinyl hanging around and know it is removable.... should I use it?

I assume it is for short term

The description being somewhat vague, I'm assuming this is for outdoor cut vinyl decals? We've used Oracal 631 economy calendered vinyl on some storefront windows announcing that a business had moved to a new location and after 2 years it still looks great. Not sure how easy it will be to remove in the long run though.

Are they wanting something that comes off easily and cleanly? Or are they wanting a reusable material like static cling?

Most vinyl (including calendered) is removable - depending on the surface applied to. We would use Oracal 3640 for cheap, short term applications. The main issue we had was more adhesive residue is left behind which has to be removed. Something like Avery's 1005 SC series comes off a lot easier.

The only vinyl I've personally worked with that was NOT removable is the reflective. We had problems on a couple panels for a reflective real estate sign, and it took HOURS to clean those off. For what we spent on labor, we should have scrapped the panels and just gone with new ones.

Depending on your application, we use a short term 3m vinyl (IJ 36-20) which is great for indoor advertising. Its life if I can remember is something like 3-6 months or 6-9 months (I could be totally wrong). It removes without leaving any adhesive which makes it a breeze. There is another one that we use which we use as a construction wrap (which we've had some installed for about 7 years now and its still up but will still remove without leaving adhesive). It's number is something like Fp320 something something.

Hope this may help.

Removable will be anywhere from 2.5mil up to 7mil and the adhesive will either be water based or poly-carbonate solvent(most likely a Rapid Air release product)

The adhesive is not aggressive at all, but does cure and become "permanent" 6mos to a year depending on heat exposure. Excellent for glass when you dont want to worry about about creep/peeling
