I'm trying to get our printer up and running, and it's been out of commission since before the current owner bought the business... so at least a year, maybe two.
The printer head will move back and forth, but wouldn't print a single dot. I'm told a printer specialist (not a Mutoh specialist) looked at it, ran cleaner cartridges, and they supposedly worked, and new ink cartridges were installed, but then the specialist hit a wall and couldn't fix anything.
The most apparent issue is that some lines have no ink. I told the printer to FILL, some of the lines moved fluid slowly, the K and the M did nothing. The Y line looks pretty clear, so I wonder if it could have cleaning solution still in the line. I cleaned the large waste line, which had dried chunks of ink as well as a thick jelly-blob of ink, and now it seems to be open, but when I FILL, only the two small waste lines drip fluid, and the waste container is all blue, which makes me think that the Y isn't moving through either.
I did a POWERFUL CLEAN and then a test print, and got the first positive results ever, which was only Cyan (see photo attached).
I've read a number of similar posts where people put cleaner in a syringe, etc. and flushed the lines, and I guess what I'm wondering is if that will make any difference after so many months idle, or if it's a lost cause. Based on what I found in the large waste line, I would not be surprised to find large dried blockages in my Y and K lines. And do I have additional problems, or does it sound like the plugged lines are the main issue here?
Two additional questions: Can a Eco-Solvent cleaning fluid cartridge be re-used? And what is the difference between the three waste lines?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
