Get that constantly regarding business cards. "You make signs, but not business cards??" Last I checked, a business card is not a sign.

I get a kick out of people with the opposite mindset.

Doing someone's trucks for 20 years and one day they ask you if you know where they can get a banner made.
Have customers who get site signs all the time. 10 years in, they ask..... who do you know that can letter trucks ??
Make banners/signs for customer and they ask, I need an electric sign, know anyone in that line of work ??

I'm Okay with the ones who ask before they do it, but the ones who ask after the fact, really p!ss me off. :frustrated:

We don't PRINT business cards here, but with a stable full of trade printers to work with, we treat doing them just like any other job we can get because I can't count the number of times a "business card" customer of ours has come back and said, now I need some signs and/or truck graphics, etc.

I don't see much difference in designing someone's business card and then all their other signage afterward.

Tried that approach...do the little sub-job and then get the big stuff. MAYBE, just maybe you land a big fish. Usually it's someone wanting 1000 cards for $20. Not worth the effort. We sub very little, and biz cards isn't on that list.

Everyone's comfort level is different. It all adds up and our reputation for offering outstanding customer service is further enhanced. Many of our best customers are just too busy to run around having different entities do each part of their marketing products.

We have entire real estate offices with 20+ agents ordering their cards from us and its essentially pull up the file from the archives, hit re-order and its another $72.00+ in our pocket for a few minutes of work to go along with all the For Sale signs, magnetics, 4'x4's. 4'x8's, riders, etc.

Most of our business cards get printed by 4over and cost about $20 for 1,000 including shipping. We charge $92.00 for 1,000 and charge $37.50 for a basic, half hour's worth of graphic design input. Everybody thinks they are well worth the price. Nicer print jobs on better stock or involving embossing, etc. get run through local printers who in turn send all their customer's sign requests our way. One hand washing the other.
