Roland errors

Greetings!

I recently posted about issues we are having with jobs bombing out part way. Versaworks reports "Printer not connected".

It occured to me that our Roland communicates via our network - i.e. it's on the same network as our other computers. Is it conceivable that network traffic could be causing these issues? Would it be better to put in a second network card and connect directly from the RIP computer to the Roland and avoid the network?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Graham

Is it a possibility ?? Yes
Is it probably necessary ?? No.

It might happen to us once or twice a year. Although we have a RIP station, we can print to our Roland from virtually any computer in the shop. If you do this, I don't think you will be capable of doing it except from that lone designated station.

I don't think that network traffic could be a reason for that VersaWorks do not recognize the printer, network traffic could slow down data transmission and print speed (longer pauses between passes).

If the message appears permanently, it should be that the IP at the printer is incorrect.
