Ok the first thing I would do is take the usb to parrallel cable back and trade and or buy a usb to serial adapter,.....this adapter needs to be plugged into a null modem plotter cable in order to work on a plotter,....plug in the adapter then go to device manage in control panel and click on the ports section and look and see what port windows assigns to the usb adapter,...if it is port number higher than signlab has a setting for you will need to click the advanced settings in the properties box for the adapter and set it manually to a lower port number that is available,.....remember how to check these settings in device manager because windows can reassign another port number the next time you turn your machine off and back on,...sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't you are on your own here,....take the information you fond in device manager for the port number and go to the settings dialog box for the plotter in signlab and use the port number windows assigned to the port and it should work like a charm,...I know it sounds like a lot of hassle but once you do it a couple of times it usually keeps the settings and works every time,.....the problem with a parrallel port cable adapter is that the port type that windows loads with the newer adpaters often is not the same type port specification the older plotter you have will need and it gets much worse trying to get the plug and pray driver windows will load for the adapter fopr that kind of port to function wioth the older plotter you have,...
