Roland/VW setting for Banner

Hey guys - have a Roland SP-300V with VersaWorks. Have been printing on it flawlessly on Oracal 3165RA for months now.

However, I bought out a guy and I acquired a roll of white banner material. I would like to produce one, however, I am unsure on the settings I should use on VersaWorks to print on the banner (Media Type - all I have is General Vinyl - 4 types, Matte PET, Semi-Gloss Gray Glue, Semi-Gloss Removable, Textile Heat Transfer, PET Clear Film, Adhesive, Clear PET Film, Monomeric Calendered Self Adhesive, White Glossy Photo Paper, Photo Matte Paper, Glossy Gold/Silver PETP, Glossy Gold/Silver Vinyl, and Garment Heat Transer....

Any suggestions? There are no marking on the roll of the banner - it is just plain white, and obviously, well, banner material.

Thanks in advance!

we run VW on our VS640 machines, and there are MANY MORE profiles than what you have listed.

we use Arlon banner on generic banner 2 and the prints are GREAT

Do you have the newest firmware?

In my VW i have a ton of profiles that came with it. I would try updating the firmware and see if that doesn't give you more.

I print on Grimco's Key banner which i believe is re-branded Ultraflex and the banners i printed today were using the Glossy banner profile the VW software came with. Even on high speed mode it printed beautifully.

I have found that the print temp being 90 and dryer being 104 works the best. Any higher and i get head strikes. If the banner roll is new, You want to pull out some slack on the roll until it gets about half used. If not, you may get head strikes. I know i do.

Thanks guys - I looked and I have VW Version 2.2 - haha. So I did an update - and it crashed out. I would imagine I would get a ton more profiles if I could update to 3.0, then run update again and get to 4.0 - but it crashes.......

Call up Roland or your local dealer you got your machine from. When in doubt, I always call Beacon Graphics in NJ as they have techs on staff

Dang, 2.2? I think 4.x is out lol

I know lol Like I said, I bought a guy out and everything came with - including this old school version.

I'm trying to update now, if I get the same error I will do a screen shot and see if you guys can help, otherwise, guess it's phone call time.

Thanks again guys!

4.6.1 is current VW. 7.30 is current firmware. once you get into VW goto settings > Roland @NET tab and select "check for updates once a week" and then below that select "download all profiles for current model printer and ink type"

That will download ALL roland profiles. it should also update your versaworks all the way.

Once that is done, you should be able to get close using GBV(i think) profile....you should also try the Oracal 3165 Profile -- I might even get close, it works on a LOT of media.
