I believe the original post of the video was to his facebook account. He posted two videos.
Video1 walks up to 3people points gun at them and no one notices. I'm serious points the gun in the reporters face. She is so into the report she doesn't notice. The gun is right beside the cameramans head and he doesn't notice. so he starts walking around (I believe since there was bad blood (not Taydolph Switler) The gunman wanted them to see him befor he shot them.
Video2 starts where number 1 left of. Comes back aims gun and fires a bunch of shots. Nuts.
The reporter- it was her last day at the station. Newly engaged to another person at the station
The Cameraman- Soon to be switching jobs also newly engaged.
The interviewee is supposedly out of surgery and recovering.
BE GOOD TO PEOPLE. KEEP SMILING.
Sorry, but in interest of accuracy, Alison the reporter, was not leaving the station. She had just recently moved in with one of the stations anchors and they had been in a relationship for some months. The cameraman, Adam, was recently engaged to the Morning show producer, and it was HER last day, she watched it unfold in front of her. He would be leaving as well, as soon as he had found a new job where she was to be.
It was obvious that the whole thing was very premeditated. The shooter did indeed want them to know who did it.
I will defend the folks for not noticing, it is difficult to do live shots, and you are strongly focused on what you are doing. The photographer, Adam, normally would have had his back to the shooter, as he had just panned across from right to left, to then focus on the interview. The reporter, Alison, was doing what a good reporter does, keep eye contact with her subject and focus on what they are saying. You are very much used to folks walking up while you are doing things, many people try to distract you or make you mess up in these situations, you have to ignore them. The interviewee, Vicki Gardner, is focusing on doing what she was to do, talk on camera, you try to focus on that, simply because you cannot be distracted. She had done this before, but there is, I am certain, a lot of nervousness about it. From the number of times I have been interviewed for TV, I am always nervous, and extremely focused on the camera and interviewer.
What is disturbing, as it will very likely inspire some copycat situations, where you record it and broadcast it to social media.
I totally agree, thankfully, the guy did himself in, and saved us a huge taxpayer drain to try, convict and house him for life, as he certainly would have pleaded insanity. However, I suspect that he was also an egotist, and liked hearing his name used on the air, and continuing to do that, gives him something he would have wanted. I also certainly believe he was mentally ill, but to me, that is not an excuse for any action.
I did not know any of those involved, but I truly feel for the families and loved ones involved, this is not what should happen at work (or anywhere) to anyone!
