Scotchcal™ ElectroCut™ Graphic Film Series 7125 - an issue

I have used this material quite a lot for certain types of jobs ( hard weeding and small letters)

I generally send the pre cut graphics out to customers who apply themselves. I have learn't the hard way that high tac pre mask is a must to be able to release the graphics easily.

It is a special order from my dealer and you need to wait 2 or 3 weeks to get it.

I like to keep white and black in stock at all times and a 10 yard roll can last quite a long time if it is being used for small graphics.

Here is the problem I have experienced using black.

I have a fleet of trucks I do for a plumbing company and the lettering although not that small is copperplate and can be a real pain to weed using regular 220 3m.. I decided to use the 7125 and the weeding time was cut considerably.

I generally apply all vinyl dry and have plenty of experience with only occasional bubbles here and there. Nothing that an exacto can't fix quick.

This vinyl is different and I can't quite figure out what is happening, but I apply it dry and you can see the squeegeeing is going down perfectly and smooth...however when I remove the masking there are so many little bubbles it looks like it's the first time I ever applied vinyl. I first thought that maybe it is a defective roll, but these same vehicles have gone through 2 or 3 rolls over the last 8 months and I am still experiencing this strange issue.

I am talking about multiple small bubbles in letters as small as an inch with a 1/8" stroke.

I know it fixes itself with sunshine and heat over time, but it really is a mystery as to why this happens. I wonder if the adhesive is a little different because of the synthetic liner as most of the bubbles occur along the edges of the letters, almost like the vinyl is a little too soft.

anyone else experience this?

To answer your question, yes we go through this on the 3M 7125.

It goes away in a day of direct sunlight, or some time under a torch/heat gun.

It used to happen with only black, then we started noticing it with red, white, and blue. Now all the colors do it, I think its something with the adhesive. We switched to using clear tape and it seems to reduce it but its still very present.
