Scrolling Banners on banner stands.

Anyone with experience seaming the ends together. Especially banner vinyl or film. Will banner tape hold up? What works best?

Or use fabric and sew?

Like an electric scrolling like you would have in a mall stand? We have done roll up banners kinda similar idea. They are rolling in and out though instead of around and around. We always use the tape that is provided on the inside of the stand. Never had any issues yet.

I have done ton of retractables but was wondering about tape holding up on scrolling ones. Tape on the retractable always get rolled inside a roll or two when fully extended so I don't think it has to do much holding.

Sorry never done any. I have also done a ton of banners and never had any tape issues with bantape1 from Grimco. I would think the tension on them is not that tight so it wouldn't really be pulling hard. Never took a look inside so not sure how the tension works.

We have one that runs in our shop nonstop for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and it's about a year old now. We used hem tape and although it works, the seam is starting to separate a bit now. I'm thinking about taking the banner out and redoing the seam.

I don't think these stands are all that popular, because by the time the customer pays for the stand and 12 feet of banner to go round and round they are out about $400, so most people will go for a regular stand in about the $250-300 price range. People will come by all the time and say "Oh, that's nice!", get a quote and either buy a regular stand or don't buy one at all. In the year or better that we've had this one on display, we haven't made one sale yet.

We used to do a lot of scrolling displays. What you need is zipper tape. There is an "A" and "B" part and both are self adhesive.

Not sure what happened to the company. It was a cab/chassis truck with a cube on the back and the displays were mounted on three sides.

I remember having to be deadly accurate with length since the scrolling was controlled by timers.

The tape is crazy expensive since there are only one or two places to get it and you have to buy full rolls of each. I think I spent around 500 bucks for both rolls.

Zipper tape was used so graphics could be changed out/re-used by the client. They were also interchangeable between trucks. Can't do either with a sewn product.

Funny we have sold hundreds of them all sewn and all can be change out in a few seconds. So your not talking about mine. We also offer reversible ones for a few bucks more. Ours change direction by just pitching the fabric.
