SolJet ProV 545EX?

I have found a SolJet ProV 545EX for sale locally. It is a 2009 model in good condition currently still in operation. It also has an add-on drier. The guy selling the printer seems to be very knowledgeable and it looks like he has taken care of it. In addition to the 545 an FJ600 is included in the deal for free. He said it probably needs a main board. The asking price is $6500 for everything. For a one man operation looking for a big printer, is this a good one to start with? It seems like a great deal.

How's the nozzle check look? When were the heads last replaced? It has 6 heads, so if they all need to be replaced, there's another $5k. If the heads are good and in working order, $6500 is a good deal. If you are planning on using a Roland GX cutter alongside it, think again. For some reason the registration marks the sc-545 prints out are not compatible with my Roland GX-500. This is using Versaworks, but if you have a RIP like Flexi its not a problem.

He said the nozzle check looks good except for the black is missing a few lines, but supposedly it still prints fine. He said he has replaced two heads within the past year. I thought this machine had six heads, he was saying it only had two. I was a little confused about that part. I forgot to mention, versaworks is included in the deal also.

There is a work around on the Pro II series to use the cutter. We have a Pro II and a GX 500. You can easily run print/cut with it. You have to setup the cut files in the GX software then export to VW. Once printed in VW you run the cut path in CutStudio. Roland has a PDF to cover this procedure. Give them a call and they will email it to you.
