Somebody's ticked off customer

Got stuck on an installation job this morning so I didn't get to the shop until 10:00. Checked the messages and have one from yesterday evening and three from this morning from some lady....caller ID shows she called two other times without leaving a message. Apparently somebody is supposed to be at her office installing lettering and she's getting more and more irate that they aren't there.

The last message is her saying that if she doesn't get a call back she's going to find someone else to do her lettering.

Thing is she's calling the wrong shop, I've never talked to her.

Now I'm a little torn....
Would it be wrong to call her back and tell her that I'm sorry for the delay and as soon as my installer gets there to tell him I said we would do it for free? Would it be wrong to tell her how surprised I am that the installer is late since he was planning on asking her out for dinner because he's in love/lust with her? :ROFLMAO:

It would be funnier if you were closer to Florida and you could blame a well-known 'Broker'.

Wow, People are nuts lol

I received a call the other day from a guy who called during the hurricane. Returned the missed call yesterday and he says "I think you have the wrong number", I said "no you called my business, I do signs and graphics"..."Oh do you do graphics on roofs?" lol

I received a van lettering job from a lady who called me when she thought i was another company lol I didn't find that out until after i received the deposit. Oh well, Made it through that month :)

I've had my share of people calling to ask why their stuff wasn't ready when I had no clue who they were over the years. I don't know how you get that mixed up, but apparently it happens.

Many many years ago, our number was similar to Sears in our area. We got calls for the automotive department, bedding, lamps and so many others. However, the direct line for the Garden Department was only one digit off. We got the most for that kinda stuff.

After years of this, I just started going along with it and giving out the 'NEW' prices for tractors and chainsaws. I was giving out giveaway specials if you come in immediately and give your address and birth-date to the cashier at the front desk. I would tell people to hold the line and never come back to it. I never swore or said anything bad.... that I remember. Just made for quite a bit tom-foolery.

Oh, I miss the good ol' days.

In all seriousness you really should call her back and explain that she has called the wrong company, but if she would like another bid you would be happy to.

If she thinks it's your company that is not doing a good job that's not good. You might have a ticked off 'customer' without even getting a sale from it in the first place. Don't let her tell her friends how much your company sucks even though it has nothing to do with you!

+1

ours is 1 digit off from a medical supply company and even AFTER answering "signs & graphics" they start telling what they want or the issue they are having (some issues are WAY TOO PERSONAL to know)

many moons ago a local beauty parlor had 1000 biz cards misprinted with my shop number,..,.well after the first 30 or so calls I called the aforementioned parlor to explain the error in their ways and asked the lady to correct the problem,...her response was,...."well we can't do that the cards are already printed out and we can't afford to have them reprinted, why don't you just give out our correct number when they call ?",,,,rather than explain to her that I didn't have time to do lip service to a bunch of housewives and women wanting thier nails and hair done each day,I chose another ploy,....each time they called wanting an appointment I would shcedule them for 3:30 wednesday afternoon,...two weeks later I got a call from them at 3:30 on wednesday afternoon, apologizing saying they would change the rest of the cards by hand and asking me to please quit arranging appointments for them(on cards that had already been handed out) there was no way they could serve 25 women all with the same appointment time,.....
