I took a break and went outside a couple of days ago. It was late afternoon and sunset was beginning. We had a stiff wind coming out of the east and widely scattered sizable clouds.
I happened to look up towards the east and the leading edge of the clouds were glowing orange and was changing rapidly as the clouds moved further west and the sun went further down. In a couple of minutes the sun sank low enough that the effect was gone and I thought about it and realized that I don't think I've ever seen a sunset in the eastern sky. I know, logically, it has to occur for a few minutes each day when a sunset is visible ... but I've never noticed a sunset to the east before.
