How do I release the print head on a Roland SP-300 to move it to the left in order to clamp off the hose below the cap tops so that I can soak the print head.

Thanks Jim

Metal tube

do you still have the metal tube that came with the printer, looks like a brass straw. You insert into the hole in the bottom of the printer to lower the capping station
pm me if you need a tech manual

Thanks Robert!!!!!!!!!!

I just lowered the capping station and clamped off the drain line and filled the cap top with cleaning fluid and then raised the heads up again.

When adjusting the capping station back up into the heads are you just adjusting until it feels snugged?

Thanks for your help. Jim

I want to do the same thing to my SP-540i and I dont want to do the procedure in the manual since it will try to do a head clean.

On the sp300v, to freely move the head here's what i do::

Hold "Cleaning" while pressing power button to turn power on. "Cleaning mode:" will flash.

Goto the cleaning menu and under that will be "replace wiper" hit ok. It'll show "insert stopper" and hit enter...then take the cover off the main control panel and at this point you can freely put the head side to side

Would it not follow up with a normal head cleaning, which would defeat putting the cleaning fluid in the cap tops?

I just go into cap / wiper control in service menu and lower the caps. Then a slight nudge of the head carriage to the right will release it.
