SP 300 questions

I have an SP-300 Roland Printer that I have owned for years.

Today I started getting an error message that say's the Post Script Interpreter has stopped working.

I have tried a number of times turning the power off to the printer and checking the cables to make sure they are pulled in correctly but I still have the error message.

I am using the original Color Rip software which I have never had a problem with until now!

My question is I have the original Roland Color Rip software version 2.2 which is an older version. Can I simply uninstall the Color Rip software and simply try to reinstall it again without losing any of my images?

Are the images stored on the rip software?

I have also heard about a way of changing the switches so that the printer excepts Versa Works software.

For me the Color Rip has always done the job and the printer prints perfectly with no real problems other then cleaning and things like that.

Thanks for your help. Jim

if your print and rip queues are more than about a page full this can cause memory issues the eps files you sent are stored in a different directory you sholud know where that is. your problem is with the computer not the printer reinstall could be a option 2.2 was the last release, and still available on the roland japan site.

i would say stick with colourrip as as you say it does what it should, if you change to versaworks you will run in to profile problems untill you sort it out.

Got one problem solved!!

Well the reason I was getting the post script interpreter error message was the computer I was using was running slow because of to many programs so because this computer is only used because it still has Windows XP on it I simply deleted many of the programs that were eating up space.

The reason I use this computer for my Roland SP-300 is because I could not find any updated drivers for my other computer which runes Windows 7 operating system for the SP-300

I simply use an AB switch between the two computers.

Because I removed my old Color Rip software thinking that I would simply reinstall the program to correct the "post script error message" now once I reinstalled the Color Rip software the printer in going to fast and the print quality is not good.

I am thinking I have one setting not run when I installed Color Rip again. As soon as the printer started working I knew something was wrong because I could tell the cartridge was moving much faster then it ever moved before.

Thanks Jim
