sp 540v yellow patches. Any ideas?

Hope someone has an idea what this is all about. I've replaced the encoder strip and sensor because of a different issue, but it had no effect on this problem. It only happens in one area of the sheet, roughly 16"-26" from the leading edge of the bed.

Definitely not a head strike, it will print nice neat yellow boxes, bars, stripes at random. Heavier when doing crop marks. But thanks.

You have an electrical issue. The signal to the head is bad. Check your head cables and connections for ink spots, debris, bad connectors, bad connection and burn marks. Make sure to turn off the machine and unplug it before doing anything. Normally it is the cables that are bad but it could be the head, trailing cables or main board.

well, all of the cables/connections have been cleaned and blown out. No burn marks or signs of corrosion. I'm thinking the trailing cable has a weak spot, I'll try that. Thanks for the input
