SP300 profiles for Oracal 3551

Good morning,

I just upgraded to MAX inks and am having some trouble. Anything printed at less that 720x1440 comes out faded looking. I see most folks recommending 720x720 but it doesn't work. Oracal doesn't list a profile for 3551 so that's not an option. Will the 3951 or 3651 work in a pinch?

I have a deadline looming and am wondering how I can correct this. Should I ignore my wanting to learn at this point and go ahead at 720x1440 or am I wasting too much ink.

BTW....it's an SP300v with Colorip.

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

On a side note, I've recently started dealing with Jason at AllSquare in upstate SC. I couldn't be happier with the service. Just wanted to give folks their due.

Jeff, I use the 3651 profile as a "general" and will default back to it when nothing else is available, give it a try, it should work fine.

Thanks Darrel. It worked great. Prints are beautiful.

I also realized today that a media basket is going to have to be in my very near future.

The profile for 3651 has a wide range of uses. I use that on banners and paper..just need to tweak the ink limits and heat.

Giraffe,

A take-up reel may be a better option than a media basket. If recently printed surfaces touch each other you run the risk of ruining your prints. Careful!!

Others may not recommend it, but I use the GCVP Profile for 3551 AND 3651, great results for me for 3 years, no problems

Yup.

Came in yesterday morning to find 14' of prints wonderfully coiled on top of one another. Luckily the tiny white flaking won't be a problem on this particular job.

I'm now accepting knowledge and suggestions for a take up reel.

How do it work?

i tried the 3651 profile, it seemed to put down too much ink? looked dirty..as far as takeup reel...try this. get a retractable clothesline from lowes and screw it it the opposite wall low, as the print comes out attach the line to the print with a clip and wallah. it has been working for me so far..called riggin
