Hello, I had the magent/yell cap go bad and siphon magent into yellow... Im pretty sure it has travelled all the way into the yell cartridge, (unfortunate). After I replaced the cap I noticed the "sponge bed" (thats what I call it) was full and evenly covering the metal sponge hold down bracket across the entire surface. So I went ahead and took off the metal cover (see photo) and the sponge hold down bracket to replace the large sponge and the smaller wedge shaped sponge underneath. After this I assembled back the bracket and put back the metal cover and, ( this is where my troubles may have started) When I tightened the screw on the side of the bracket, which has a slotted screw hole, I snugged it up thinking that be the way it should be. I replaced the cap and cleaned up the wipers and heads and printed test yellow squares..... I heard the carridge striking something metal upon its entrance into the control panel area. I opened the cover while the carridge was mid swing. It stopped and i loosened the screw that attatched the metal cover so it would slide in the screw slot. The striking stopped but the fun began... In the picture you can see the yellow squares are quite magenta and the print is skewed and the edges are fuzzy... I search the forum and did a automatic linear calib. (over my head now)... I also see that encoder strip cleaning may also be a remedy but I didnt play in that area so I feel the problem came from the strikes... Ive had the machine 4 years and we barely use it so far. (sad i know)
One other thing... the pattern of ink on the sponge looks like its shifted. Im not sure if I remeber having ink build up on top of the sponge bracket that way after a fresh sponge replacement.
Regards
