Strange Random Print Head Malfunction Falcon Outdoor 62

I have been experiencing a strange print head malfunction. I am running a Mutoh Falcon Outdoor. Randomly during a print but not always I will get at random points all of the nozzles on both heads will fire one time resulting in a line of each color.

It has been doing this for a while now, and it is very random. I can sometime print 40-50sqft without it happening at all, then this afternoon I started to print a small banner before I left for the day and within the first 6" or so it had done this about 5 times. Oh and they usually occur on the right side of the print(looking from the front of the printer) but not always.

I have been told that it could be a head connection issue, but in that case would both heads do this at the same time?

Could it possibly be static? How would I fix something like this?

This isn't an issue that ruins many prints but it is annoying.

Looks like the ghosting issue I was getting with our Mimaki JV4. The Cyan would drop lines like that at a skew of roughly 1.5 inches away from the intended hit spot, on the diagonal. Reloading the firmware seemed to help, but I also happened upon an odd occurrence yesterday:

The ghosting came back recently, and things have been getting pretty bad in here for static. I was worried about having to reset my firmware again, and when I leaned against the printer, I got a huge shock (I'm tall enough, so it just got my leg. Phew!). Next print I put a print through it, no ghosting at all, as if it just needed to discharge. Huh!

Needless to say, I started wearing the static bootstraps again.

It's not really ghosting, it fires every single nozzle in both heads just once leaving a perfect pattern of the nozzles. And it does this at random points, that same banner that I printed yesterday and had a problem is printing now and so far zero issues.

Pardon, ghosting's a bit of a misnomer. Originally, my problem was much more severe, to the point that it was printing so many of these lines, that it was apparent that it wasn't random, and actually followed the shape of the printed image.

Now when it happens, they're much more spaced out, and much fewer in frequency, looking kind of like what you experienced. Either way, thought I'd chime in, in case there was any overlap in our issues.

I'll try to look for a pattern next time it happens. Thanks for response, at least I know I'm not the only one with issues.

I think this may be the encoder strip which may have some contamination or something on it try cleaning that.
