Strange thing with RGB

I have my ink limits dialed in perfect, but its only right when I convert a bitmap RGB to cmyk,
For some reason, if I leave it as an RGB the ink is puddled all over the vinyl. I just don't get it.
Its set for no color correction also.

If you convert to CMYK beforehand you get the total ink limit set in the profile you convert to. For example, US Web Coated Swop has a predefined ink limit of 300 total ink and US Sheetfed comes in at 350 total ink. If the ink limit in your working CMYK set up is lower than the ink limit in your rip, wind up with a total ink that matches your working CMYK.

Speaking generally since I do not know what rip or how you are set up with your profiles. Sending RGB to the rip will convert to the Device profile for that machine. Typically, these are 400 total ink profiles and the extra step of ink limiting is then applied.

If you have it set for no color correction you are NOT using a profile, which contains your ink limits and ink restrictions and color look up table.
This means that you are dumping 100% of ink.

Im using flexi 8
I have color correction check, I mean no color correction set as far as perceptual, absolute colormatic.. etc

The problem sounds like you have a valid profile for CMYK and no color management for RGB. On a side note make sure you set your rendering intents for Relative for both Raster and Vector

US Web Coated SWOP (or Gracol) for your source profile.
Set source profile to Adobe RGB 1998 for RGB source profile.

Make sure you are using SOME kind of profile.

But if I change that in design central before rip, doesnt it just default back to the production managers settings?
