Switch from CMYK to 6 colors (ValueJet 426)

My printer currently has 4 colors and I want to switch to a 6 color in order to be able to print white.
I'm planning to change the color dampers but do I also need to change the tubes that feed them? Or just taking the color out of them through a Syringe is enough? What else should I be doing for for this change?
Really can't afford to screw up the printer and would really appreciate your input to do this right.

Change the tubes! Even removing the old colour ink will probably leave enough in there to tint the white ink, and its too expensive to be wassting
