Hello all

Hope everyone is well

im approaching my first vehicle livery and was looking for some tips on how to approach.

the red section of the graphics will be a metallic/chrome vinyl so im wondering what is common practice on where the white and red join?

shall I just lay the white completely under the red or maybe have a 10mm overlay?

Or would it be safe to pre cut on a plotter and butt them up against each other.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are you putting the red and white and logos and lettering on a green Mini? Are you using cut vinyl? Printing? Wrap materials with air release or not?

Yes sorry forgot to mention that, the car is already green so its the printed logos, white and red thats being applied, the design started as one printed piece but the customer now wants the red to be a chrome mirror finish so the red is cut vinyl and im either going to print the white or put printed logos onto the white. all cast materials with air release.

If it's green body and metallic red & white/print then you may struggle to butt together (and may get shrink back over time) so would be best to have a small overlap.

I take it you are using something like Avery Conform Red Chrome wrapping file for the chrome red. If that's the case, here's what I would do:

1. Wrap the trunklid with the chrome red, then apply the white stripes and the logo and number.
2. Wrap the side with printed and cut white vinyl that includes the shape of the top and the two spears that expose green at front and back of the wrap piece.
3. Apply knifeless tape to create the top contour of the red on the side.
4. Wrap the red over the white, cut with the knifeless tape.
5. Apply the printed white section to the hood.
6. Apply the logos that go directly on the painted body
7. If the TFC and R are supposed to be chrome, apply the cut inset letters.
