thicker material

Does anyone else have problems printing thick material on the vj1604? everything works fine when i print on materials that are 10 to 14 mil.,but once I jump to 17 to 18 mil, things go wrong. Problems range from pf errors, prints not aligning properly, head strikes, and so on. I tried unrolling the material to give it slack, clean the wheel connect to the pf motor, check the belt, lowered the vacuum, adjust the heat settings, and nothing works.

The maximum media thickness that the VJ-1604 can print on is only 0.3mm (0.01in)

That spec is for low head height, in high head height it will print 1.0 mm.
Move to high, lower temps to reduce cockling.
