tiff files come in as nothing or shut software down

I posted this here as I am not sure if it is software related or just bad files.

I can view the file if I double click on it from the desktop, but if I try and import it into Signlab, the program shuts down immediately. I have seen this before. i tried opening it in Flexi and I get an error message... This artwork was purchased from IIstock so I can't figure out what could be causing the problem.

any ideas?

Try placing in a new open blank file instead of opening it. That's Illustrator terminology so maybe it doesn't apply to Flexi.

Not sure how SignLab handles things but the most likely culprits are extra channels, 16 bit color mode, LAB color or the oldie but goody, LZW compression. I have also had tiff files that would not work unless I opened them and copy pasted them into a new document.
