transparency using flexi

I have learnt a valuable lesson today. Do not use the transparent function on a large print. I think I waited 45 minutes to rip this file!!! The bad part is I need 2 of them but only sent 1 at a time. If I send the second I assume I will have to wait that incredible rip time again. What if I send it from the production manager? will this speed it up?

well I went into prod mgr and the file has been deleted. It seems if there is no cut info it deletes them. Oh well.... I going for lunch maybe when I get back it might start lol

When you send a job from the RIP and Print dialog to Production Manager always select 'Hold In List' from the menu on the first tab.

Then send the job to production manager.

Double click on the job in Production Manager and select "Hold" on the menu on the second tab.

Now the job will hang around until you specifically delete it.

You can also change the default job properties for this device to always hold jobs instead of deleting them.

I have had this problem as well... I'm glad I'm not alone and maybe someone reading this post will be able to provide a work-around or shed some light beyond what has been offered so far. I am still using VersaWorks to print from and just this last week did some more updating and getting information regarding printing right from Flexi, so hopefully this will help me out?

I have found it frustrating to design some really cool stuff with the transparency effect in Flexi, then have it such an issue to send it over a networked computer out to my print room. I don't have a very good understanding of what DPI the file should be exported at so it provides a clean print on the physically larger size files.

Any more input appreciated.

I actually ran the second one with a 72 dpi and as it is a background effect and was origianlly vectored it looks ok for a 48" x 96". These will only be used at the side of the road and no one will get within 30 feet of them. Close up they dont look to bad. They sort of have the resolution of digital work I farmed out before I bought a machine!!!! lol
