Typical bleed?

I'm a designer with a million years of design experience (read that as 28 years), and I have designed probably 12 car wraps in the last 10 years, but now I have a new client that is wanting upwards of 30 wrap designs in the next 6 months.... so:

I'm doing all this artwork in Adobe Illustrator, and I don't know how much bleed per car panel to give her. She's new at this also, so I'm trying to help launch her.

Any other advice for Illustrator-to-wrap would be welcomed.

To me, every installer is different. This comes down to personal preference.
If she is the installer and has wrapped in the past talk to her about what shes had in the past. Really no right or wrong (well no bleed would be wrong i guess) answer here.

info

She's new at this. Bought all the right equipment, has a helper and an A/C'd shop. It's up to me to give her good artwork. I guess I'll just give her 1" per edge and keep the artwork easy to tile. I'm going to have to source templates though... that's going to eat into profit

charging

Maybe its different where you are, but apparently most people showing up to get vehicles wrapped here in Texas assume you've already bought all the templates. Maybe I'm undercharging, since I'm only charging her $75 to $120 for wrap designs. Guess I need to do some research

yes, you are undercharging

again as the others state the amount of bleed is depending on the installer and another factor is how are you paneling the wrap. Vertical or horizontal
also you need to be careful to give enough bleed on all sides as this will allow the installer to adjust the alignment

How long are you spending on these designs?

charging

Typically, 1.25 hours (cars/trucks with company logo and info and some graphical elements) to 5+ hours for race cars. I'm really fast at what I do, so most vehicles are 1 hour. Race cars take a lifetime so i definitely need to rethink those.

LOL you mean the race car guys are not letting you design it for free just so you can get your name on the side of their car!!!

Race cars will suck the life out of you. Run while you still have the energy.

As far as your pricing, it seems on the low side.

Contact me please. I would like to see some layouts and your design style to see if it meshes with what we produce here. That is if you are wanting more work.
