what some call PC is just old fashion manners. you don't use racial slurs and to the Native Americans, it is. being white people we don't have any slurs that tick us off. crackers? rednecks? woodchucks? honkies? whitey? anyone offended yet? didn't think so. until someone comes up with a really good one for us and names a sports team that, maybe then we can worry
That might be true if it were a racial slur. However, it's not. There are far more native Americans that have supported the Redskins keeping their name than there are that have opposed it. If it's not offensive and it's actually supported by the vast MAJORITY of native American's, then you'd have to ask yourself what's behind the group (and yes, it's a group) of people that oppose it. Follow the money.
The real fact is probably that this tribe that's complaining probably went to the Redskins and wanted money for using the Redskin name. The Redskin's probably told them to take a hike and then they started their protest. My guess is if the Redskins offered up some money to them, they'd all disappear into the background about it all.
If you took every name off everything someone finds offensive, there's be nothing left.
I wish my life was so perfect that I had the time and luxury to get up every day and do nothing but complain about things other people do that have no impact on my life.
This forum, since I have been a member has been full of the advice "grow some thick skin". Well, some people need to grow some thick skin and just live your life and let others be.
Want to put a racist bumper sticker on your car. Knock yourself out. I couldn't care less. Do I want one on my car? Absolutely not. Am I going home and cry in my pillow when I see it and wonder how I can change the world and rid them of all the racist bumper stickers on the planet? I seriously hope my life never gets to that point.
Don't like the Redskins? Don't watch them. Don't like the use of the name? Don't buy their gear. It's really not that complicated.
