Ultrasonic Cleaning TIP

This may be common knowledge on here, or maybe not. In hindsight I wish I would have thought of it.

Before setting the print head into an ultrasonic cleaner, wrap the electronic panel with some Saran Wrap.

It might have saved mine from getting fried had I done that. The head didn't fall over into the solvent. I think It just got splashed.

Beware!! I bought those ultrasonic head cleaning equipment, ultrasonic can be effective getting ink to flow through the print head but it also damage the print head nozzles, now the nozzle are all cleared with really bad nozzle deflections. The ink shoots out like spray gun. Ruin the day and need to get new head. My printer is VJ1604 DX5 Print Head.

actually it's a bit more complicated than that. you can litterally sink the head in the solution. that's not the issue. it's that the solution has retarders in it causing it to not evaporate away from small nooks and crannys in the head. the final procedure is to fill a container with 99% isopropyl and wash the entire head (yes sink it). the iso will mix with the gycol ethers and "lift" them out. you then have to allow 24 hours to dry. i've fried cleaned up heads by not washing them. i've saved cleaned heads by giving them a bath.
