Updating Firmware on 1604

We have had our VJ1604 for nearly one and a half years now.
I know the firmware is not up to date but is it worth updating?
I am a firm believer if it aint broke don't fix it.
I have heard horror stories with people whilst updating the machine crashes and then you need a Tech!
What are the advantages as we have never had so much as a hiccup or a burp from this machine.

I don't have a Mutoh, but I agree with your theory.
wait until you need a service call anyway, then do it right before that service, so the tech can fix it (if it screws up) while he does whatever else you might need a service call for... that way it eventually gets done & you don't slip continually further behind the current updates

We do not have a service contract running with this machine.
As I was told that what the tech guys in the UK want for a service contract for a year, I could replace every part that would need replaced twice over!
So what I have done is purchased a maintenance manual for this machine.
Just needed to know if it was worth me updating the firmware!?
or should I leave it alone.
