valuejet 1604 Print Head

Here's a question for you all.

Whenever and if ever you manually run flush fluid from a syringe into your print head, is it difficult to push it through or does it flow nicely from the syringe out through the head?

When doing it I find that I have to press pretty firmly in order to get the flush running out of the head.

Right now I'm having issues with the black nozzles not printing much out of them and the nozzle test shows consistently the same nozzles sending ink (which is less than half). I pushed some fluid through the head while still sitting in the carriage and found it harder than normal to get anything out.

Pulling ink through the damper works like a charm.

Your thoughts and response on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

These are pretty small nozzles, and if half are plugged, it can be pretty difficult.
Too much pressure can damage the piezo elements, that is why I prefer the head soak method and pulling through the capping station.

My thought was that if the head was parked on the caps, and you tried to push fluid through it, the pump would stop any and all flow...right?

Actually, jhill, I turned off the machine and moved the carriage over the spit tray. Then removed the two dampers for the black and began the procedure. Not quite sure if the pump would stop flow in the scenario you mentioned though.

Randy: I'm with you on your statement and I too prefer that method. However, since many little charges have been done with no positive results along with an overnight soak, I decided to give that a shot as part of my troubleshooting. I wasn't able to get positive feedback since it's too dark to really be able to see any stream of fluid running. I did see fluid accumulating under the head but not sure if a stream occurred before hand.

This is really the only drawback (no pun intended) I see with a single head system. I can't pull from the capping station to see if only black is coming out.

Thanks for the replies.

I would only force wash solution through a head using a syringe as a last resort before replacing it.
