Valuejet Broken Chip Problem

I have run our Valuejet 1604 over the last couple of years on bulk ink.
We have smart cards to the rear which has worked faultlessly (except for a set of chip readers which is due to old age).
On Tuesday Evening whilst waiting for some new ink and cards I ran the printer over night. When I came in on the morning the magenta was flashing ink end!
When the cards arrived I inserted them in as usual Cards were all dated 8/12/14 except the Magenta which had 20/12/14 scribbled out and another date of 8/12/15 put on.
When reinserted all the cartridges I was getting a [Broken Chip] Message on just the Magenta.
I then checked to see if I had another chip reader that had failed and it looked like it had a bent chip on it.
After replacing the chip reader with a spare I still get a [Broken Chip] Message on just the Magenta.
I have swapped chip readers round so I am certain it is reading the card properly.
I managed to get another 2 sets of cards this morning all dated 9/12/14 except a Cyan and a Magenta card that were marked 9/11/14!!
All the cards work except the magentas that still show a [Broken Chip] Message.
My issue is:- If I have installed a card that was written as 8/12/15 will it cause this fault as it is now looking for a card dated after 8/12/15?!!!!
And has this fouled up all the other cards as the machine thinks the others do not match the magenta?

Help!!!!??

Cheers
Sean

Try the old power off and unplug, then while unplugged hit the power button on and off again to drain the caps.
Leave for ten minutes and re-try.
If nothing, I would check the chip reader sensor inside the machine that reads the chips. There are three little gold colored spring like sensors that over time can snap and cause this.
Does your bulk ink system feed into dummy cartridges, or directly to the sub tanks?

I have tried all that guitarguy with no luck.
Definitely a smart card issue as I can put in any other colour into it and it reads wrong colour!

Business is now at a stand still!

I have been making smart cards for our fleet for three years now, using one company, and have had few problems.
Sometimes the cards are not created correctly, and the company will reimburse for those bad few.
You should look into a system, they are fairly inexpensive, and the ROI is recuperated fairly quickly, not to mention no down time.

Do you know of a seller for the smart card writers?
