Valujet Chip Reader Damage

Hi all

I run my Valuejet 1604 with an aftermarket bulk ink system which has worked very well for the last few years.
About 6 months ago I had a problem when reinstalling a cartridge after fitting a new smart card (to reset the ink levels) I damaged a couple of the internal chip readers.
At the time and due to the age of my machine I took this as just normal wear and tear as the machine is about 7 years old.
I replaced all 4off the internal chip readers with new ones.
Once again this week I have a damaged chip reader which is a pain as when one of the pins snaps or bends it must make the smart card unreadable as it must write to the card somehow.

Now my question:-
I do not want to ever remove my cartridges again to eliminate the chip readers getting damaged, so I want to know (and I am fairly certain this is correct).
If I power the machine off and replace the smart cards (the reader is now at the rear so no need to remove) when turning the machine back on will this read the cards as new?
This stops me having to physically pulling the cartridges out of the machine.

Many Thanks
SC

Yes. Just make sure you remove the cards as soon as the printer initializes. This way the cards will last indefinitly. We had the same thing happen about 6 months ago on one of our 1604's so we rarely remove the cartridges any more.
