Vandal proof faces...

Hey guys.

I have a customer that is looking to add a vandal resistant face to an existing sign cab't?

The cab't is a typ. 3 1/2" thick alum extrustion with pan faces. Its mounted between (2) steel posts (thin enough to allow the retainer to be removed to slid the faces out for service).

I'm racking my brain to figure out how to add this for the customer. Worst case, I'll just have to quote them a new cab't, thick enough to put in flat faces, with a vandal cover.

Thanks,
Mark

I think if someone wants to vandalize something badly enough, they'll find a way regardless. Whatever you do, don't guarantee it against vanalism!

Like Johnny said, what type of vanadalism are you worried about?
Also, like Bluefish said, nothing is vandal proof, vandal resisitant is a better term.

I believe in this case, it's just a figure of speech calling them vandal proof faces.

I don't recall ever seeing vandal proof faces on a pan-face. That being said, they need to re-think what they are trying to achieve. Usually it's for wind resistance cut down, kids making new words or people harming faces directly. This setup usually is about an extra 2" and I don't think you'll fit most pan faces behind that. However, you could always customize them and have the returns made deeper and see if it will still fir on there snug and tight. My biggest worry would be that they rack themselves when open for changing out letters or servicing and not go back down correctly.

They are protecting their changeable copy from theft...

I'm like you Gino, I thought about a thicker return, and I'm afraid of the racking, and servicing without having to take the whole damn thing apart...

The customer wants to know if its possible by Wed...which will give me enough time to draw them out a nice new sign...:thumb:
