I usually sub out my digital printing and have used regular Oracal 3651 vinyl with good results. We put this on the hood of a black car and it is failing after about 1 year. Will the 3M Controltac work better?
fail how? shrink, color fade, lifting etc...
Any photos?
regardless you are placing vinyl on a horizontal surface and you are in a the south (lots of direct sun) these two factor equal a much sooner failure rate
3651 is the calendared stuff right?? definitely use Cast vinyl for a hood. is it laminated? that will help too.
the heat from the engine, and facing UP doesn't help matters either.
Never had much luck with calendar on a vehicle, on the hood of a black car in Florida would be a good test
Seems like calendar always wants to peel up from the edges, and I think using the
matching laminates was part of the problem.
Don't remember the brand, but seems like one of the 3/5 year rated films
recommended laminate was only rated at one year.
Cast laminate on calendar vinyl might have helped some.
