Vinyl pin striping on a boat trailer

My friend wants me to put some vniyl pinstriping on a boat trailer for him and I have a few questions that I thought someone could answer for me. All he wants is like two 1/4" stripes. I use Oracal 651 and I was wondering how long it would last on the trailer? Also would it be easier to do it in 1 long piece of like a few, say 6 ft pieces and piece it together? If I piece it together how do I get it is so the ends that overlap wont peel up?

Just buy a roll off 1/4" stripe tape. You will be TIME and money ahead. A 150' roll should be less than $15.00.
