VJ 1204 cartridge

Today near the end of a print my VJ 1204 started beeping telling me that my magent cart was near empty. After the print was finished I got the new cartridge I had purchased a few weeks ago but noticed instead of the smart chip on the back there is a chrome decal with two small black squares and Eco-Solvent Ink printed on it instead. Other than that it is identical, even has the Eco-Solvent Ultra box checked.
I have an extra chip but before I change the decal to the chip I would like to know if it's OK.
What machine uses the chrome decal?

The chrome ones are for the old mutoh rockhoppers. Your supplier just sent the wrong ones. This has happened to us twice from signwarehouse. Call your supplier and have them do an exchange.

It's better to have two hands than one glove.
As previously noted the cartridge with the chrome label is for the old Rockhopper/Falcon machines. The only difference between that cartridge and a Value Jet cartridge is the smart card.

They look the same otherwise. Same cart, same checkbox marked "Eco-Solvent-Ultra". Just a decal instead of the smartcard.
So it would be fine to just replace the decal with a new smartcard I already have?

It is EXACTLY the same ink and cartridge, only the ID - foil or smart chip, is different for differnt models

Also please contact your dealer and let them know of their error.

And I am assuming that you have a NEW smart card, as an old card will have ink usage written to it.

i had the same problem, i was sent two black cartridges that have a holographic sticker, a barcode, "mutoh" printed on it, and partn: SMCU-22-BK, and neither one worked on my VJ1204. i've had them for months, unable to get them replaced by the vendor.

That is a chipped card for a Falcon II Outdoor.

Email support@mutoh.com

Send them you printer serial # and the name of your vendor who would not replace them.

They will send out new smart cards, take a marker and draw around the old cards, peel them off and put the new cards on, you'll be good to go.
