VJ1304 Questions

After years with my old RH38 I am now the proud owner of a slightly used, still in warranty, VJ1304!

But it came with no manual...

I use Flexi 8.6V2 and I need to know what the 10 different print modes are...

I called Mutoh...they said to call flexi.

Flexi said they no longer support my version!

If I have to print samples of each mode I will.....

Help

well, I have a setup not too far different - a 1204 with Flexi 8.2

I'd say you're probably wise to just go ahead and do samples, so you can see results for yourself - but I'd also time them.
I've had mine for about 6 years, and only last month found out some "modes' print bi-directional, others only in one direction (therefore twice as long to print)

Of course, to make things even more interesting..... each profile will be a bit different (if only slightly..) with each of the 10 "modes" - so you can see how much fun this might be!

Personally, I've had good success using the Mutoh profiles - and use "Graphics 3" for a slightly better quality / low speed then "Banner 2" (same media selection) which looks almost identical to me, but prints in both directions, so its far, far faster! (on the 1204 - I can only do 47.25 inch wide in bi-directional prints though, instead of 48 - which is just weird, but a known issue)

Good luck!

Conor, You didnt know when you were printing in bi or uni directional? You can hear the difference and see that it doesn't feed out after every pass when in uni directional. also if you select driver options button it will show you is it is uni or bi directional.

To the OP, I believe somebody on here will have a pdf of the manual for you.

I never claimed I was bright ;)

but mainly my point was that different modes have it built-in to be one or the other, and the mode's name gives no indication of that. For some odd reason I had always just assumed it only ran uni-directional printing on the highest resolutions (the 1440 ones)

Yea i'm pretty sure the 1440 is only uni directional. and when i said select driver options i was talking about in flexi. not sure if youre using flexi for printing. (just wanted to clear that up)

If you are printing vinyl use the Graphics (G2) profiles Banner use the Banner 4 (B4) Mode for fast and Graphics 2 G2 for quality. Use profiles created with these modes. Do not take a profile and change it in the rip. The arlon or Mutoh G2 is usually good for vinyl. I also like the general formulations GF-203 G2 profile. The Herculite B4 or G2 are good for banner.
