This happens once in a while- prints normally but will stop for (approx) a second at each end and then print to the other end... and stop.
This is bi-directional by the way- any thoughts? Thanks Gene
I would start with bandwidth on the LAN. Large-format printers consume a lot of bandwidth when printing, and if they are being starved for data, you will get a pause between pass scans while the buffer is being filled for that pass.
We have seen this with routers/switches on their way out.
One odd thing lately noticed are viruses and even some programs randomly outputting to the TCP/IP and causing the printer to go into "Now Processing" state.

It might be a bad router or other network hardware failing on you. We have an old junk laptop that we use to test trade in machines once in a while and it does the same thing when we use the RIP while printing setting. The computer just can't RIP fast enough to keep the printer printing so it stops to wait.
Is the rip computer doing other memory intensive tasks when the pausing occurs? This used to happen to me years ago before I had a dedicated rip computer.
