About 2 weeks ago this guy comes in soliciting toner cartridge replacements and we told him we have a pretty good place we go to and are happy. He asks about our photocopier and we told him it was down but we just used the fax machine or scanner to do copies ( a pain but I really don't like paying those high prices to fix the copiers).
Once he heard we had a down and out copier he said he had a friend in the business who had just moved in up the street from us and he would get him to give us a call.
Within 15 minutes the guy actually called, hot to trot one may say. he came in looked over the lexmark copier ( it really is a nice machine and said we really should get it up and running as copies are pretty cheap as opposed to using a laser printer or laser fax). I agreed but told him I didn't want to give him my first born for payment. Keep it cheap and I might go for it.
$250.00 he says, i say go for it.....
OK when he is finished I said do you have an invoice and he says no it's ok we will bill you for it and takes a business card.
That was 2 weeks ago...this week I get a call from a lady who said she was from the company that fixed our machine and she wanted a quote for signage.
I gave the info to my sales guy and he looks at the name and says whats this?
I told him and he says..don't you remember we quoted these guys about a year ago and they accepted our price. I said your kidding and he refreshed my memory and said that the lady verbally gave him a go ahead and he kept calling for the deposit cheque and she kept delayting.
In the meantime he had me setup the sign face which of course was a no no with no deposit and had the graphic designer here set up business cards.
When he finally got ahold of her she said they got someone else and the job was in process...
HA!!! I say.... so now they gonna be looking for their $250.00
what say I ask if they have anything signed for regarding the service and the price? I know I never signed anything ha ha ha
gonna see where I can take this...
