What does "install in this direction" mean?

Like on polymetal and other substrates it has an arrow that points a direction and tells you to install it that way.
Does it mean install the graphics or hang it on a building?

Why does it matter?

To get matching "mill" ends for butt joints. It just shows the way they came off the shear.
