What lam for contravision?

We do a few windows, backs and sides and we lam them with the optic clear lam and when I went to order a new bundle I saw the lam was almost $200 more then the film. I know some people say dont lam it but here with these crazy winters here in Canada I would prefer to use it. My question is can I not use the Avery DOL 1360 cast lam that we use for the wrap film. It is a 2 mil film and is crystal clear and would do just a good a job on protecting the film.

Thoughts on this....

If you are talking about vehicle windows, in Ontario (probably all of Canada but I am not sure) by law if you laminate over windows you have to use the optical clear, and not the regular wrap lam.

Lam for contravison

Biggmann,

I suggest your expensive laminate is on a polyester liner, the Avery DOL 1360 on a paper liner. On the polyester liner your film+adhesive will be crystal clear, on paper it is somewhat structured by the paper. Applied directly onto glass both give a clear result but on contravison there is no contact between the adhesive and the glass. The effect of a DOL 1360 is a milky transparency where details are faded out, with polyester linered laminate you should have an almost undisturbed view.

I hope this helps.
