I started the sign business 38 years ago with a Chevy Luv Pickup and $500 worth of fluorescent watercolor window paint and foam brushes.
Now:

126" wide Stratojet Falcon UV roll to roll
4x8 Stratojet Flatbed
Canon Colorado 1650 UV
Seiko M-64s solvent printer

Summa 1832 6'x10' Flatbed Cutter
Summa S plotter
Seiko 62" laminator
panel saw
Fletcher cutter

I think I liked painting the windows the best! No computers lol..

I've been in this business for so long I remember when customers were surprised I could make a banner in a week!

Perfect! Painting by hand was the best part of my sign career.
Sometimes painting by hand can be quicker than digital.
I've got a guy in the shop next door who races bangers/demolition derby cars who is always asking me to 'make some stickers' for his cars - usually on a Friday afternoon. He can never understand why I say it takes too long to set everything up for a different job ever few week at short notice. Now he is getting a guy with an airbrush to do his cars. He can finish the job in less time than it takes me to create the files.

Hi:

We are looking at a Vanguard 600. What’s ailing on your 300?
3ft of water flooded the machine. Other wise, it was a good printer. We had issues with white ink dropout, but overall it was a good machine given the price point. We moved on to an HP R2000 recently.
