Will be shut down for 3 weeks, what to do with printer?

Hi there.
I june, I will have to shut down for 3 weeks and I was wondering if it is OK to drain all the ink from the printed and fill it with cleaning cartridges?
I have Mutoh Falcon Outdoor and I have cleaning cartridges that I could plug in and do the Line Clean (Or whatever that is called in the printer).

Should that be good enough to prevent the print heads from clogging in those 3 weeks?

Thanks :signs101:

You don't need anybody doing it for you. Leave the printer and a comp on, schedule a daily print session - a smallish image, just to keep the flow - there was a little utility made just for that - can't remember the name, but in windows you can schedule a task etc...

Anything over a week it his highly recommend to flush these printers and clean the lines with the cleaning solution. The auto cleanings were not designed to keep the head working over longer time periods.

Flush the system and sleep well knowing that when you come back all you have to do is refill the machine and stat printing. Plus this will give you an opportunity to make sure your maintenance station / ink system is working properly.

Thank you.
Do I keep the cleaning cartridges in (and cleaning solution) the printer or I completely empty the lines and the printheads?

I'm not sure how the Falcons handle this situation but the newer models have a menu item called "longstore". It will flush the ink completely out of the system and then run cleaning solution through. It then shuts off and the next time you turn it on, it empties the cleaning solution and fills up the ink. Maybe someone on Signs101 with more Falcon experience knows what that menu item is called in the Falcons?

If I remember correctly the Falcons will completely drain both the ink and cleaning out of the system. There should be a menu item that starts the process and you just follow the prompts on the screen.

That is a clean cycle, and then the "Ink fill".

I know how to do that, did it when I flushed the old ink out. I was just wandering is the cleaning solution will damage anything if left in the printer for 3 weeks.

The cap top should be in perfect contact with the printhead. Remove the ink cartridge from the printer, connect a syringe to the end of the cap top hose, remove all the inks by pulling the inks until you see/confirm that you got the air through the syringe. Now insert the cleaning solvent cartridge to the printer, pull again until you got the cleaning solution. Apply to all four colors. clamp the hose at the end of cap top, leave some cleaning solution on the cap top. Cap it and seal it. Make sure the cleaning solution stays in the cap top.

You should be ready to go. Do the same when you want to fill the ink backup.

440ml cleaning cartridge for $59 or 1,000ml cleaning bottle for $50.
