Will DTF be possible on regular wide format printers one day?

I have a Uninet - waste of money IMO. Can't get the printer to print decent colors, the software is a nightmare.

Ok, so I wanted to try DTF for myself, since it is the hot new thing. I run mostly Mimaki gear at my shop, but their new TxF300-75 is about $24,000 too much for my blood. So, time to look around for a better solution. For specs, I want 17" width, roll handling, 6+ ink channels, Epson heads...

dtf and dtf ink are pretty much the same thing which has allowed dtf to progress at the rapid pace it has. This has also allowed manufacturers to jump right over to ink that is safe for apparel and usually oeko Tex certified.

Dtf ink is cured via heat as is the powder adhesive so you can do that all in one step. With UV I’d guess you’d need to see if you can fully cure it with heat when you melt the powder or if you’d have to hit it with uv + heat.

Film wise it would likely work but you’d just have to trial and error it.

I thought you weren’t supposed to use uv printing on apparel due to possible skin reactions. At least that’s what we were told when looking at a ucjv300 and when printing on our Roland UV.

Uv dtf is a completely different process and application. They just both popped up at the same time so people get them confused

Dtf isn’t new. It just got easier and cheaper and more mainstream right when small batch merch got crazy

We’ve been getting dtf transfers for 7-8 years from a company in Brazil who was dtg printing them. We tried on our kornit 4-5 years ago but couldn’t figure out a good film
